Scottsdale Unified School District Foundation Letter from the Chairman

Our Foundation began a short time ago with the clear vision of making a difference in public school education. Our passion drives a "Quest for Excellence" in all that we do. Our mission is simple - bring awareness to the Scottsdale Unified School District’s significant financial needs and focus on fundraising to support programs that make the biggest difference in the educational experiences of our children.

We are proud to have supported a number of initiatives, including teacher education programs, new teacher orientations, steroid awareness, spelling bees, and summer learning programs. In addition, we are very proud of our Quest for Excellence mini grant program, initially supported in part by the Helios Education Foundation. This program awards grants to SUSD teachers who are inspired to experiment with tools and techniques that go beyond conventional text book learning. Over the past two years we have awarded over $60,000 in mini-grants to SUSD teachers throughout the district to broaden the learning opportunities of our children. Thanks to the generous support of our community, we were able to increase the amount of our 2010 mini grant program to $50,000--providing a $20,000 increase over 2009 funding directly in to the classroom for teachers and students.
